Waldorf Knit Doll kit
$24.00
This Waldorf doll kit is made from the pattern Mini-Man/Mini-Miss found in Elizabeth Seward’s book Teaching Through Stories: Jane and Jeremy Learn to Knit.
I was asked by my friend, Jessica Lawson, who is a Waldorf teacher to offer doll kits for the kids in her class. They already have wood needles in US 10/6mm size so I knit the first sample doll (the one wearing the brown pants and a blue hat) with that size needle. I had so much fun making the doll I named him George and decided to knit him a friend.
The doll pattern in the book calls for a US 8/5mm needle, the second sample doll (with the green gnome style hat) was knit with a US 8/5mm needle. I named her Frederica.
The doll knits up quickly and is a wonderful knitting project for kids because of the simple directions. You can have fun changing the style of the hat to look like a gnome hat, a beanie or a bonnet. The sweater could be multicolored stripes and your doll could have hair. You can make it how ever you want!
